# InsertParagraphBreak Method of the Paragraph Object

This method divides the paragraph into two parts.

## Syntax

### C++

```cpp theme={null}
HRESULT InsertParagraphBreak(
  int          Position,
  ICharParams* CharParams
);
```

### C\#

```csharp theme={null}
void InsertParagraphBreak(
  int        Position,
  ICharParams CharParams
);
```

### Visual Basic .NET

```vb theme={null}
Sub InsertParagraphBreak( _
  Position As Integer, _
  CharParams As ICharParams _
)
```

## Parameters

Position

\[in] Position where the paragraph is to be divided. Must be not less than 0 and not greater than the length of the paragraph.

CharParams

\[in] This variable refers to the [CharParams](/fine-reader/engine/api-reference/text-related-objects/charparams) object that contains attributes for all characters of the newly created paragraph. This parameter may be 0, in which case the default character parameters are used.

## Return values

This method has no specific return values. It returns the [standard return values of ABBYY FineReader Engine functions](/fine-reader/engine/api-reference/return-codes).
