# Supported Digital Document Input Formats

> Digital document input formats that ABBYY FineReader Engine 12 can open on Linux and Windows — PDF, Office, and other native digital document formats.

ABBYY FineReader Engine 12 accepts input digital documents in the following formats:

* text documents: DOC, DOCX, RTF, HTML, TXT, ODT
* tables: XLS, XLSX, ODS
* presentations: PPT, PPTX, ODP

  In Linux, opening documents in these formats requires libcrypt.so.1 library installed on the workstation.

  In Windows ...

* Opening documents in these formats requires .NET Framework 4.6.2.
* Opening documents in XLS, XLSX, ODS formats with the [OCT\_MsOffice](/fine-reader/engine/api-reference/enumerations/officeconvertertypeenum#oct_msoffice) setting requires Microsoft Excel installed on the workstation and the Print Spooler service started up.
