# Customize adjacent area

> Adjust the adjacent area shown around characters during FlexiCapture verification: set its size and contrast on the Options dialog Adjacent Area tab.

You can customize how the surroundings of characters and fields are displayed during verification.

  <Step title="Open the Adjacent Area tab">
    In the main menu, click **Tools → Options...**, and then open the **Adjacent Area** tab.

  <Step title="Set the size">
    Select the adjacent area size from the **Size** drop-down list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the opacity">
    Set the opacity of the adjacent area with the **Contrast** slider.
  </Step>
