# Creating batch types

> Batch types in ABBYY FlexiCapture determine image pre-processing, Document Definition matching, integrity checks, and export settings for each batch.

Documents are processed in batches. Batches are [created](/flexi-capture/brief/brief-batch) when documents are imported or scanned. At the same time, each batch is assigned a type.

Batch types predetermines the following document processing parameters:

* image pre-processing
* matching [Document Definitions](/flexi-capture/brief/brief-template) with their corresponding documents
* batch integrity check
* default batch [export](/flexi-capture/brief/brief-export)
* batch processing
