# Creating classifier projects

> Create a classifier project in FlexiLayout Studio: choose the Classifier Project Files type, document language, and auto or rule-based classification.

To create a classifier in ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio, do the following:

1. Create a new ABBYY **Classifier Project Files** (\*.fcp) type project.
2. In the **General** tab of the **Properties** window, choose the language of the documents that need to be classified.
3. In the **Classification** tab of the **Properties** window, choose the classification type that will be used:
   * Auto-classification.
   * Rule-based classification. This type is recommended when you need to apply additional rules to more precisely distinguish between different classes.
