# Export FlexiLayouts

> Export a FlexiLayout from FlexiLayout Studio as an encrypted .afl file ready to add to an ABBYY FlexiCapture Document Definition or other capture apps.

You can export FlexiLayouts to data capture applications as `.afl` files. Exported FlexiLayouts are securely encrypted to prevent unauthorized use.

## Export a FlexiLayout

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start the export">
    On the **File** menu, click **Export...**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name and save the file">
    In the **Export FlexiLayout** dialog box, enter a name for the file and select the folder where it should be saved.
  </Step>

The resulting file can be added to an ABBYY FlexiCapture Document Definition or used in other data capture applications.
