# Create and manage projects

> Create, open, and close projects in ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio, view project settings, and manage image enhancement profiles from the Properties dialog box.

When you start working with ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio, create a new project or open an existing project.

## Create a new project

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click New Project">
    On the **File** menu, click **New Project...**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Specify the project name, location, and type">
    In the **Create New Project** dialog box, enter a project name and specify a location for the project.

    Then choose the type of project you want to create:

    * **ABBYY Classifier Project Files** (`*.fcp`)
    * **ABBYY FlexiLayout Project Files** (`*.fsp`)
    * **FlexiLayout Project...**

Once you have created your new project, you can [add images to the batch](/flexi-capture/fls/batch/image) and create a [FlexiLayout](/flexi-capture/fls/template/ftemplate).

## Open an existing project

    On the **File** menu, click **Open Project...**.

  <Step title="Select the project file">
    In the **Open Project** dialog box, select the project file that you want to open.
  </Step>

## View project settings

On the **Project** menu, click **Project Settings...**. FlexiLayout Studio displays the paths to the project file and to the image batch. You can add a comment to the batch if required.

To manage your [image enhancement profiles](/flexi-capture/fls/project/image-enhancement-profiles), click the **Image Enhancement Profiles** tab.

## Close a project

On the **File** menu, click **Close Project**.
