# Installing ABBYY FlexiCapture servers

> Set up the Application, Database, Processing, and Licensing Servers for ABBYY FlexiCapture from the setup menu, with prerequisites for each server.

The servers are installed from the ABBYY FlexiCapture disk via the setup menu. The following servers must be installed:

* [Application Server](/flexi-capture/architecture/app-server)
* [Database Server](/flexi-capture/architecture/db-server)
* [Processing Server](/flexi-capture/architecture/proc-server)
* [Licensing Server](/flexi-capture/architecture/lic-server)

Installation instructions for each server are provided below.

## Application Server

Before installing the Application Server, make sure that [the necessary components](/flexi-capture/admin-guide/ds-requirements) are installed.

If these components are not installed on your computer, all of them (with the exception of Internet Information Services) can be installed from the ABBYY FlexiCapture disk (**Autorun**, **1. Distributed Installation → 1. Install External Components**).

If all of the above components are already installed, you can start installing the Application Server:

1. On the **Autorun** menu, select **1. Distributed Installation → 2. Install Servers** and follow the instructions of the setup wizard.
2. In the **Custom Setup** dialog box, select **Application Server**.

To install Web Scanning station and Web Capture station in the **Custom Setup** dialog box, select the **Web Stations** option. In this case Operators will be able to access the stations via browser. Default installation paths cannot be changed.

<Note>
  Prerequisites (for example, Msxml6) are installed only when installation or modification of the program is run via the setup.exe file.
</Note>

Once the Application Server is installed, the Administration and Monitoring Console will be launched automatically, where you can set a database connection and grant rights to the Operators.

## Database Server

The Database Server stores the data required for document processing operations: information about the Operators, batches, events, and so on If there are no more than 50 Verification Stations in the system and no more than 100,000 documents are processed daily, you can use Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition. For larger volumes, the use of the full version of Microsoft SQL Server and/or File Storage Folder is recommended.

Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition can be installed from the ABBYY FlexiCapture disk: on the **Autorun** menu, select **1. Distributed Installation → 1. Install External Components**.

## Processing Server

The Processing Server distributes the workload among the Processing Stations. Together with the server, a **Processing Server Monitor** is installed, where you can monitor the operation of the server and set task priorities.

To install the Processing Server:

1. On the **Autorun** menu, select **1. Distributed Installation → 2. Install Servers** and follow the instructions of the setup wizard.
2. In the **Custom Setup** dialog box, select **Processing Server**.

Once the Processing Server is installed, you must configure it (that is, start the server, add the Processing Stations, and so on).

## Licensing Server

The system requires a valid protection key which must be activated on the ABBYY activation server. This can be done via the License Manager application, which starts automatically once you have installed the Licensing Server.

To install the Licensing Server:

1. On the **Autorun** menu, select **1. Distributed Installation → 2. Install Servers** and follow the instructions of the setup wizard.
2. In the **Custom Setup** dialog box, select **Licensing Server**.

The License Manager allows you to manage your licenses, that is, add, activate, select licenses and view their parameters.
