# Creating a Machine-Readable Form/Checkmark Group

> Checkmark groups combine several checkmark fields on a machine-readable form so the respondent selects exactly one option, with explanatory text alongside.

A **checkmark group** is an element of a machine-readable form that unites several checkmark fields of which only one must be checked. Checkmark groups are usually accompanied by explanatory text that explains the type of choice to be made.
