# Exporting recognized data

> Export recognized data from ABBYY FlexiCapture to data files, image files, or an ODBC database, automatically per Document Definition settings or manually.

      Documents are exported automatically. Depending on the settings, an additional confirmation by the Senior Verification Operator may be required. Documents are exported in accordance with the settings provided in the Document Definition. If there are no export settings in the Document Definition, the documents are exported based on the project settings. If some of the documents need to be exported ahead of the others, they can be sent to the export queue at the export stage.

    Documents can also be exported manually on the Verification Station or on the Project Setup Station.

    ## Exporting data to a file

    1. To export data to a file, select **Export To →** Data to Files... from the shortcut menu of the document. The Export to data files dialog box appears.
    2. If required, adjust the export settings by clicking **Settings...**. Click **OK** to apply the changes.
    3. Click **Export** to export the data.

    ## Exporting images to file

    1. To export images to a file, select **Export To →** Images to Files... from the shortcut menu of the document. The Export to image files dialog box appears.
    2. If required, adjust the export settings by clicking Settings... Click **OK** to apply the changes.
    3. Click **Export** to export the data.

    ## Exporting data to a database

    1. To export data to a database, select **Export To → Database...** from the shortcut menu of the document. The Export to ODBC-compatible database dialog box appears.
    2. Specify the export settings.
    3. Click **OK** to export the data.

    After verifying recognized data, the Operator exports the batch by clicking the Export button. Export is performed according to Document Definition settings.

    You can also export to file or database without using the export settings configured in the Document Definition.

      *(Administrator)* When exporting to file or database, you can use default settings or change them as you wish. Default export settings are configured in the project properties dialog box (main menu item **Project →** *(Administrator)* Project Properties...) on the **Export** tab. See [Default export settings](/flexi-capture/project-settings/default-export).

    ## Exporting data to a file

    1. To export data to file, click the arrow to the right of the export button and select the Export Data to File menu item
    2. Select the storage location and filename prefix (the full name will begin with this prefix followed by the Document Definition name, batch name, and document number, if you save each document as a separate file (see item 3)
    3. Enable options:
       * Export documents as separate files to store data of each document in a single file.
       * Rewrite file to overwrite the export file.
       * Save document images to save document images.
    4. To change other export settings, click the Settings... button. *(Administrator)*  For details concerning export configuration, see [Export settings](/flexi-capture/templates/export-main).
    5. To save modified export settings, in the File Export Settings dialog box, click the **Save to Document Definition** button and select a Document Definition for which you want to save current settings.

    ## Exporting images to file

    1. To export data to file, click the arrow to the right of the export button and select the Export Images to Files menu item.
    2. Select the storage location and [file format](/flexi-capture/appendix/saving-file-format).
    3. Click the Settings... button to configure  *(Verification)* image export settings *(Administrator)* [image export settings](/flexi-capture/templates/export-image).

    ## Exporting data to a database

    1. To export data to a database, click the arrow to the right of the export button and select the Export to Database... menu item.

    2. Establish a connection with a database. *(Administrator)*  For details see [Export to database](/flexi-capture/templates/export-bd).

    3. Go to the Images tab and configure image storage settings.

    4. Documents whose data has been exported successfully may be deleted from the batch automatically. This will happen if the option Delete documents after export is enabled on the **Export** tab of batch type properties or project properties.

    5. If you attempt to export documents with rule errors, the program will display an error message. Rule warnings will not prevent export.
