# Specify registration parameters

> Specify registration parameters for batches and documents before export, using the Registration Parameters window or the properties dialog in Scanning Station.

**Registration parameters** are text properties that identify specific batches or documents, such as the date a document was scanned or the last name of the Operator who created the scan.

Specify registration parameters manually before you export a batch.

You can do this in two places:

* In the [Registration Parameters](/flexi-capture/scanning-station/shared/interface/registration-win) window.
* On the **Registration Parameters** tab of the batch or document properties dialog box. To open it, right-click the batch or document and click **Properties...**.

  Registration parameters marked with an asterisk (`*`) are required. You cannot export a batch until all required fields have values.
