# One-time editing actions

> Apply one-time editing actions to scanned pages: rotate, flip, crop, split, invert colors, redact text, and change image resolution in Scanning Station.

You can perform one-time editing actions with the tools at the top of the [image enhancement panel](/flexi-capture/scanning-station/shared/scan-station/how-to-work-with-images).

## Rotate an image

A page has standard orientation when the text lines are horizontal and the text reads from top to bottom. If a page has a different orientation, rotate it.

In the image window, select the pages to rotate, then use one of the following ways:

* To rotate 90° clockwise, click **Rotate 90° Clockwise** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.
* To rotate 90° counterclockwise, click **Rotate 90° Counterclockwise** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.
* To rotate 180°, click **Rotate 180°** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.

## Flip an image

In the image window, select the pages to flip, then use one of the following ways:

* To flip along the vertical axis, click **Flip Horizontally** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.
* To flip along the horizontal axis, click **Flip Vertically** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.

## Crop an image

Unlike **Autocrop**, this tool is for manual cropping, including cropping multiple rectangles on one image.

    In the image window, select the image to crop.

  <Step title="Start cropping">
    Click **Crop** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the area to keep">
    Select an area on the image. A frame appears around it.

    You can also:

    * Select multiple areas by repeating this step.
    * Draw an area inside another area by holding down **Ctrl** while drawing.

    To change the frame color, click **Tools → Options... → General → Crop line color** in the [Options](/flexi-capture/scanning-station/interface/options) dialog box.

    To deselect an area, hold down **Shift** and click inside the area or on its border. To crop, press **Enter** or click outside the page. Each selected area is saved as a separate page.

## Split an image

If an image contains two or more scanned pages, you can split them and save each fragment as a separate page. Select a page in the image window, then click **Split** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.

How the image splits depends on the keys you hold:

* By default, the image splits into two fragments horizontally.
* Hold **Shift** to split the image vertically.
* Hold **Ctrl** to split the image into four fragments.

## Invert image colors

If an image has light text on a dark background, invert the colors to improve OCR. In the image window, select the pages to invert, then click **Invert** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.

## Redact sensitive information

The redaction tool permanently hides sensitive information on a document.

    In the image window, select the page with the sensitive information.

  <Step title="Start redacting">
    Click **Redact** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Cover the area">
    Place the mouse pointer in a corner of the area to redact, then hold down the left mouse button and drag the frame diagonally. A color rectangle covers the text in the selected area. To change the rectangle color, click **Tools → Options... → General → Redaction Color** in the [Options](/flexi-capture/scanning-station/interface/options) dialog box.

## Change image resolution

    In the image window or the [Batches](/flexi-capture/scanning-station/shared/interface/navigator-win) window, select the pages whose resolution you want to change.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the resolution dialog box">
    Click **Change Resolution...** on the toolbar, the **Page** menu, or the shortcut menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the resolution">
    In the **Set Resolution** dialog box, specify the resolution.
