# Properties of a Document Definition section

> Manage Document Definition section properties in ABBYY FlexiCapture: repetitions, FlexiLayout settings, NLP models, image parameters, and rules.

You can view and change the properties of a Document Definition section in the properties dialog box that opens when you select Properties... in the shortcut menu

The properties dialog box contains the following tabs:

* The General

On this tab, you can change the name of the document section, enter or edit its description, and enter or modify the minimum and maximum number of section repetitions in the document. The Enabled option includes/excludes a Document Definition section from document processing.

When matching a Document Definition that contains Unstructured sections, the Allow multi-page documents option becomes available. This option allows you to merge several pages from the same section into one document during classification. All pages classified as both belonging to the same section as the first page and having the Any position attribute will be attached to it. This option is enabled by default for definitions created in ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Release 3 Update 5 and later. This option is disabled by default when editing definitions created in earlier versions.

<Note>
  If the Allow multi-page documents option is not selected for a multipage FlexiLayout, a single-page document will be created instead.
</Note>

For details about multipage documents and working with sections, see [Creating Document Definitions for multipage documents](/flexi-capture/templates/template-multipage).

* The FlexiLayout

If a FlexiLayout has been loaded into the section, this tab shows its Name, Version and Comment. You can load a FlexiLayout by clicking the Load... button and unload it by clicking the Unload button.

For details, see [Creating a Document Definition for semi-structured document processing](/flexi-capture/templates/flexible-description).

If the full-text recognition settings specified in ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio differ from the Document Definition settings, you can synchronize them for faster document processing. To do this, select the **Use the same recognition settings as Document Definition** option. This option is also useful if you want to modify certain parameters (such as font type) without launching ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio. If you do not want to use synchronized settings, select the **Use own recognition settings of FlexiLayout** option.

* The NLP

On this tab, you can create, modify, and upload NLP extraction and segmentation models. You can use NLP technology to process unstructured documents, such as contracts or letters.

* The Images

This tab displays parameters of the page images in the section. The following parameters are displayed: size, resolution, print size, and color mode.

* The Rules

On this tab, you can delete, edit or create rules for your Document Definition.

For details see [Rule validation](/flexi-capture/templates/rules).

* The **Data Sets** tab
