# Assign tenant licenses

> Assign a personal tenant license in ABBYY FlexiCapture: activate the serial number in License Manager, clear Share main license, and enter its number.

Ideally, each tenant in a multitenant system should be granted its own personal license. Each personal license number can be assigned to only one tenant.

## Grant a license to a tenant

  <Step title="Activate the tenant serial number">
    Activate an individual tenant serial number in the ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 License Manager.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the tenant list">
    Open the Administration and Monitoring Console and click **Settings → Tenants**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the tenant settings">
    Select a tenant in the list and open its settings by clicking the corresponding link in the tenant's name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Clear the shared license">
    Clear the **Share main license** option.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the license number">
    In the **License number** box, type the individual serial number of the personal tenant license that you activated.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the changes">
    Click **Save**.

<Warning>
  If you prohibit a tenant from using the main license and do not provide the tenant with a personal license, the tenant will not be able to process documents.
