# Rescan tasks

> Process rescanning tasks in the Web Scanning Station: add missing pages, rescan documents, reject tasks, or send them to the Exceptions stage.

Rescanning is required if some documents cannot be processed. In this case, a Verification Operator sends them to the Scanning Operator for rescanning. Such tasks appear at the top of the **Batches** view. To see the list of rescanning tasks, select **Rescan Tasks** in the **List**.

The list shows each task's name and priority, its status (**Unprocessed task** or **Postponed**), and the date and time the task was created.

To start processing a rescanning task, click the link with the task name.

## Process a rescanning task

<Steps>
  <Step title="Get the task">
    Select the task from the [list](/flexi-capture/web-stations/scanning) on the station's main page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add missing pages">
    If necessary, add missing pages from a scanner or from image files.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send the batch">
    Send the batch to the server for further processing.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Rescanning page interface

The rescanning page interface and controls work like those on the [Create a batch and submit it for recognition](/flexi-capture/web-stations/correcting) page. You can delete previously scanned documents and scan them again, rescan individual document pages or a whole document, and change page orientation. Within a rescanning task, you can also add any number of new pages and work with them without restrictions.

## Reject a task

If necessary, you can reject a task and return it to the server, for example, if the task was assigned to an operator who cannot access the batch's source pages. After you reject a task, it becomes available to other Scanning Operators, unless it is assigned specifically to you.

To reject a task, click the <img src="https://mintcdn.com/abbyy/XVEmG3cTpHwMKf5X/images/flexi-capture/Scanning_ButtonRejectTask.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=XVEmG3cTpHwMKf5X&q=85&s=b396a71377b90eb938a4bf938739c633" alt="Reject task" style={{display:"inline-block",verticalAlign:"middle",margin:0}} width="26" height="31" data-path="images/flexi-capture/Scanning_ButtonRejectTask.png" /> button on the task toolbar, and then click **Yes** to confirm. To continue processing the task instead, click **No**.

## Send a task to the Exceptions stage

In exceptional situations, you can send a task to the Exceptions stage. A Senior Verification Operator processes tasks at this stage individually.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click the Exceptions button">
    Click the <img src="https://mintcdn.com/abbyy/XVEmG3cTpHwMKf5X/images/flexi-capture/Verification_ButtonTaskExcep.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=XVEmG3cTpHwMKf5X&q=85&s=054e9a75da4087d022bd3149d750068b" alt="Send to Exceptions" style={{display:"inline-block",verticalAlign:"middle",margin:0}} width="26" height="20" data-path="images/flexi-capture/Verification_ButtonTaskExcep.png" /> button on the task toolbar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter a reason">
    Enter the reason for sending the task to the Exceptions stage.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm sending the task">
    Click **OK** to send the task, or click **Cancel** to return to processing it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Postpone a task for further processing

Postponing a task works the same way as saving a batch during the initial scanning. To postpone a task for further processing, click the <img src="https://mintcdn.com/abbyy/mpS3pcxC_lkohQUS/images/flexi-capture/Scanning_ButtonCloseBatch.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=mpS3pcxC_lkohQUS&q=85&s=73628685513a4d8403367cd4b3c9b4a2" alt="Postpone task" style={{display:"inline-block",verticalAlign:"middle",margin:0}} width="23" height="22" data-path="images/flexi-capture/Scanning_ButtonCloseBatch.png" /> button on the task toolbar. Postponed tasks are unavailable to other Scanning Operators.

## Send a task to the server

Sending a task works the same way as sending a batch after scanning. To send a task to the server, click the <img src="https://mintcdn.com/abbyy/XVEmG3cTpHwMKf5X/images/flexi-capture/Verification_ButtonTaskDone.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=XVEmG3cTpHwMKf5X&q=85&s=8e142d9b3d10c7445905f45555a4606a" alt="Send task" style={{display:"inline-block",verticalAlign:"middle",margin:0}} width="21" height="20" data-path="images/flexi-capture/Verification_ButtonTaskDone.png" /> button on the task toolbar.
