# How to capture documents using ABBYY FlexiCapture Mobile Client

> Capture documents with ABBYY FlexiCapture Mobile Client: connect to the Application Server, photograph and enhance pages, assign types, and send them.

## Connection and sending settings

To send images to FlexiCapture, set up a connection with the Application Server. For more information, see [FlexiCapture server setup](/flexi-capture/fc-server-setup). Without a connection, you can still photograph documents and preprocess the images, and set up the connection and send the images later.

To connect to the Application Server, specify the following:

* The URL of the server
* The name of your company (tenant)
* A user name and a password

To send documents, first specify the project and batch type to send them to. If most of your documents share the same document type, you can also specify that type. This step is optional, because you can set each document's type later, and any document sent without a type is assigned one when it is processed on the server.

If you forget a required setting, the app prompts you for it when you try to send the documents.

## Capture documents

  <Step title="Photograph the first page">
    Take a picture of the first page of a document. You can improve the image with the in-app tools: rotate and crop it, apply color filters, or convert it to black-and-white to reduce its size.

      To crop each image automatically, enable the **Enable automatic cropping** option in the app's settings.

  <Step title="Save the page">
    Save the page image. For a multi-page document, open the document's menu, tap **Add**, and repeat the previous step for each page.

  <Step title="Assign a document type">
    Optionally, select the document's type. If you don't, its type is set to the default **Unidentified document** type when the document is sent, and determined when a Document Definition is applied to it on the server.

  <Step title="Send the document">
    Tap the **Send** button to send the document to ABBYY FlexiCapture. If you forget a required setting, the app prompts you for it. To avoid entering the same settings repeatedly, save the settings you used as defaults.

Sent documents have the **Sent** status in the document list. Documents that have not been sent have the **Not sent yet** status and are marked in red, making them easy to spot.
