The type of a document determines which fields the system extracts and which validation rules it applies. The system assigns a type to each document automatically. If the system cannot determine a document’s type, it assigns the “Unknown” type — the system cannot extract fields from Unknown documents, but the document image still appears. You can change the type of a document from the list of documents. This may be necessary when the system has assigned an incorrect type or no type at all (“Unknown”). Both incorrect and Unknown document types appear in red during manual review.

Changing a document type

1

Open the Change Document Type dialog

Click the more options button and select Change Document Type.
2

Select the appropriate type

Select the appropriate type for your document. If none of the available document types apply, set the document type to “Unknown”.
Changing a document’s type to “Unknown” discards the previously extracted data. This action cannot be undone.
After changing the document type, the program prompts you to start a new extraction. If you decline, you must manually complete any empty fields that appear on the data form.

Confirming low-confidence document types

Low-confidence document types also appear in red. To confirm a low-confidence type without changing it, click Confirm Document Type.
