# Supported input formats

> List of image and document formats supported by ABBYY Vantage Scanning Station.

Scanning Station can import images and documents in these formats:

* Windows Bitmap (`*.bmp`, `*.dib`, `*.rle`)
* PCX, DCX Packbits
* PNG
* JPEG (`*.jpg`, `*.jpeg`)
* JPEG2000 (`*.jp2`, `*.j2k`, `*.jpf`, `*.jpx`, `*.jpc`) — see [JPEG2000 notes](#jpeg2000) below
* DJVU
* TIFF (`*.tif`, `*.tiff`)
* JBIG2 (`*.jb2`, `*.jbig2`)
* GIF
* PDF
* Microsoft HD Photo (`*.wdp`, `*.wmp`, `*.hdp`)
* XPS
* WIC-Compatible (`*.ARW`, `*.CR2`, `*.CRW`, `*.dds`, `*.DNG`, `*.ERF`, `*.ico`, `*.icon`, `*.KDC`, `*.MRW`, `*.NEF`, `*.NRW`, `*.ORF`, `*.PEF`, `*.RAF`, `*.RAW`, `*.RW2`, `*.RWL`, `*.SR2`, `*.SRW`)

## JPEG2000 notes \[#jpeg2000]

Lossless compression is used for JPEG2000 when **Quality** is set to **Best**.

## PDF notes

When processing PDF files that contain vector graphics, visual quality may deteriorate because the PDF is rasterized and the output contains a bitmap image.

  PDF files with XFA forms cannot be imported.
