# Scanner Settings dialog box

> Configure scanner resolution, color mode, paper size, duplex, and other options when using the Scanning Station scanner interface.

Use this dialog box to configure your scanner when you've chosen the [Scanning Station scanner interface](/vantage/documentation/scanning-station/interface/select-and-scan) rather than the native driver interface.

## Scanner settings

| Option                           | Description                                                                                                                          |
| :------------------------------- | :----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Resolution** (drop-down list)  | Sets the resolution of scanned images. Use higher resolutions for small-font text.                                                   |
| **Color mode** (drop-down list)  | Color mode for scanning. Gray mode works best for OCR.                                                                               |
| **Compression** (drop-down list) | Compression for scanned images.                                                                                                      |
| **Rotation** (drop-down list)    | Rotates scanned images.                                                                                                              |
| **Color dropout**                | Removes a specific color from scans. Choose **Red**, **Green**, **Blue**, or **None**. **None** keeps all colors.                    |
| **Brightness** (drop-down list)  | Switches between automatic and manual brightness adjustment. To change the level manually, move the slider below the drop-down list. |

## Paper settings

| Option                          | Description              |
| :------------------------------ | :----------------------- |
| **Paper size** (drop-down list) | Paper size for scanning. |

  If none of the suggested paper sizes suits your needs, choose **Custom...** from the list and specify the height and width in the **Custom Paper Size** dialog box.

## Multi-page scanning

| Option                                  | Description                                                                                        |
| :-------------------------------------- | :------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Use automatic document feeder (ADF)** | Select if you're using an ADF-equipped scanner.                                                    |
| **Duplex scanning**                     | Select for duplex (two-sided) scanning.                                                            |
| **Pause for N seconds after each page** | Pause for the specified number of seconds between pages. Enter the interval in the adjacent input. |

## Actions

* **Preview** — scans a single page and shows it in the preview window above the button, so you can check settings before a full run.
* **Close** — returns to the scanner profile properties.
