# Processing documents

> End-to-end workflow for Scanning Station Operators: scan, separate, edit, and export.

Scanning Station takes batches through four stages. This page is the high-level overview — for a full reference, see [Processing steps in detail](/vantage/documentation/scanning-station/operator/processing-detail).

    Click **Scan Pages** on the [main window toolbar](/vantage/documentation/scanning-station/interface/main-window-toolbars). To pick a different scanner, click the arrow next to the button.

      The scanner must be connected to your computer — see the scanner's documentation. Without a physical scanner, you can still use the virtual scanner to import images from a folder.

  <Step title="Separate documents and batches">
    Scanned pages sometimes need to be separated into different documents or batches. Do this in the **Batches** pane or the image pane.

  <Step title="Edit images">
    Use the Scanning Station's image tools to rotate, deskew, denoise, and otherwise clean up pages before export.

  <Step title="Export">
    When the batch is ready:

    1. Click the arrow next to **Send to Vantage** and choose **Export Options…**.
    2. In the **Send to ABBYY Vantage** dialog, enter the server address under **Server**. Under **Skill**, pick the skill that should process the documents.
    3. Click **OK**.

    If the batch type requires integrity checks, the batch must meet those requirements before it can be exported.
