ABBYY Vantage tracks all document pages processed by users against license-specific counters. The counter type used depends on the skill used and whether that skill is licensed. Licensed skills are skills created by ABBYY or its partners that have undergone the ABBYY licensing procedure. There are four types of counters in ABBYY Vantage:
  1. Dedicated counters for licensed skills — each licensed skill has its own dedicated counter (for example, ABBYY Air Waybill and ABBYY Bill Of Lading).
  2. Core Cognitive Skills counter — counts pages processed by all unlicensed ABBYY Vantage skills.
  3. OCR Skill counter — counts pages processed using OCR skills.
  4. Licensed Skills counter — counts pages processed by trial versions of licensed skills. This lets you process documents using licensed skills whose counters are not part of your license or have run out of pages, so you can try a licensed skill before purchasing it.

When Pages Are Counted

Pages are counted during both design time (modifying Document and Classification skills) and runtime (using any type of skill — Document, Classification, Process, or OCR). Design-time document processing for Document and Classification skills includes:
  • Importing demo documents into a Document skill
  • Importing files into a document set for training Document and Classification skills
Runtime document processing includes:
  • Uploading pages to the Documents section
  • Processing documents in transactions
  • Uploading documents when using the Try Skill feature
All pages processed during both design time and runtime are counted in the corresponding skill counters.
Pages are counted even if the transaction fails after the documents have been imported.
All subscription counters are reset at the end of a renewal period. The duration of the renewal period and its start date are the same for all counters in a subscription, regardless of when any of the skills were first used. A single image of a page of any format is counted as one page, even if the image contains several different documents. If a skill’s counter runs out, or if your subscription does not include access to the required skill, you cannot create new transactions using that skill. For more information, see Subscription Limits.

How Pages Are Counted for Process Skills

Process skills contain one or more OCR, Document, and/or Classification skills (licensed or unlicensed). Pages are counted as follows, depending on the combination:
Process skill compositionHow pages are counted
Only unlicensed skillsEach page increments the Core Cognitive Skills counter once, regardless of the number of skills used to process it.
One licensed skillEach page increments that licensed skill’s counter once, regardless of how many times the licensed skill was used to process the document.
Unlicensed skills + one licensed skillEach page increments the licensed skill’s counter or the Core Cognitive Skills counter, depending on which skill was used to process the document.
Several licensed skillsEach page increments each licensed skill’s counter.
If any skill contained within a Process skill has reached its counter limit, the transaction does not start.
