An evaluation installation needs three things before you can demonstrate it: a database, a running Processing Server, and a project on the server.

Create the database

Open the Administration and Monitoring Console

Use an account with administrative privileges, in one of these ways:
  • Click Start → All programs → ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Servers → Administration and Monitoring Console.
  • Open https://localhost/FlexiCapture12/Monitoring/DBConnection.aspx#/DBConnection?info in a browser.

Start a new database

Click Settings → Application Server, and then click Create new database.

Specify the database settings

In the window that opens, set the following values:For more information about the administrator credentials, see Install ABBYY FlexiCapture for evaluation.

Set your own password

Click OK. ABBYY FlexiCapture issues the temporary password password.Open the log-in page at https://localhost/FlexiCapture12/Login and change it.

Set up the Processing Server

Launch the Processing Server Monitor

Click Start → All Programs → ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Servers → Processing Server.

Add the local server

On the Actions menu, click Add Server → Local Host.

Check that the Processing Server is running

A running server shows Processing Server running indicator next to it. If it is not running, click Actions → Start.For more information, see Set up the Processing Server.

Add Processing Stations

  1. Select Stations in the ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Servers tree, and then select <Server_Name>.
  2. Click Actions → Add Stations….
  3. Click By name… and type localhost to add the locally installed Processing Station.
  4. Start the Processing Station with Actions → Start.

Create station groups if you need them

Select Station groups in the tree and click Add. In the dialog box that opens, specify a group name and select the stations.

Upload a project to the server

Launch the Project Setup Station

Click Start → All Programs → ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Stations → Project Setup Station.

Open a local project

Click File → Open Project…. You can use any of the sample projects in %public%\ABBYY\FlexiCapture\12.0\Samples.

Upload the project to the server

Click File → Upload Project to Server… and enter the Application Server address as https://localhost.If the two are on different computers, use https://<ApplicationServer>. Replace <ApplicationServer> with the computer running the Application Server.

Authenticate against the server

Select Use server authentication and enter the name and password of the database administrator.
To demonstrate image import from Hot Folders, also enable Hot Folder processing in the Administration and Monitoring Console under Settings → Projects. ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 is now ready for demonstration. For more information, see Deploy ABBYY FlexiCapture.
