Setting up the Processing Server takes two parts. First grant it the permissions it needs, and then point it at the Application Server and attach stations to it.

Assign the Processing Server role

Assign the Processing Server role to the user whose account runs the Processing Server.
On the same computer as the Application Server, under the default Network Service account, the role is assigned automatically. Skip ahead to starting the server.
If the role is not assigned automatically, grant the permissions on the Settings → Users page of the Administration and Monitoring Console. When the Processing Server runs on another computer under the Network Service account, the Console shows the user as <Domain>\<Machine Name>$. If the Processing Server service runs under a different user, the role goes to that user.

Start the Processing Server and add stations

1

Start the Processing Server Monitor

Click Start → All Programs → ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Servers → Processing Server.
2

Specify the Application Server address

Click Actions → Properties and specify the address of the Application Server, for example https://ApplicationServer.If the Processing Server and the Application Server are on the same computer, the address is filled in automatically.
3

Start the Processing Server

Click Start.
4

Add Processing Stations

Select Stations in the tree and click Add. In the dialog box that opens, select the stations by their computer names, or click Browse… to find stations on the network. After you add a station, specify its parameters in the Station Properties dialog box under Actions → Properties. The station starts automatically, which takes about a minute. To keep a station from starting, for example because it needs lengthy setup, clear Start automatically in the station properties. You can then start stations by hand. Select them in the Processing Server Monitor main window and click Start station.
Do not install the Processing Station on a computer that runs the FlexiCapture servers. Sharing the machine degrades server performance.

Create station groups

Station groups are optional. Select Station groups in the tree and click Add. In the dialog box that opens, specify a group name and select the stations.

Specify workflow settings for a project

Workflow settings are optional, and you specify them on the Project Setup Station. Settings made under Project → Project Properties… on the Workflow tab apply to batches of the Default type. If your project contains several batch types, set the workflow for each one separately. Click Project → Batch Types…, select a batch type, click Edit…, and then open the Workflow tab.
