Databases created in earlier versions of ABBYY FlexiCapture need a different procedure. See Update databases and projects created in ABBYY FlexiCapture Distributed.
- PostgreSQL is enabled by default from ABBYY FlexiCapture Release 4 Update 2. On earlier versions, enable PostgreSQL first.
- The
fcschema and all its objects must be owned by the account the Application Server uses to reach the database.
Connect to an existing database

Open the Application Server settings
On the computer running the Application Server, open the Administration and Monitoring Console under the Windows administrator account.Click Settings → Application Server to open
https://<ApplicationServer>/FlexiCapture12/Monitoring/#Settings/DbConn, where <ApplicationServer> is that computer’s name.If the Application Server is already connected to a database, start at step 4.2
Start a new connection
Click Connect to Existing Database.

Enter the connection details
In the form that opens, complete the following fields:
- The name of the Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Azure, or PostgreSQL instance
- The name of the existing database, for Oracle, Azure, or PostgreSQL
- The user that administers the database server
- The path to the file storage, if there is one

Test the connection
Click the Test Connection button to check the values you entered. If the test succeeds, click OK.

Upgrade the database if prompted
Your server is now connected to the database.If an Upgrade link appears next to the database version on the Settings → Application Server page, upgrade the database before you proceed.

Note the temporary password
If ABBYY FlexiCapture authentication has never been used for this database, the account running the Administration and Monitoring Console gets the temporary password
password.
