ABBYY FormDesigner can generate a form description that is used to create a Document Definition in ABBYY FlexiCapture Professional. A Document Definition tells a form processing application where to look for particular types of information on the document, which ensures reliable recognition of the entered data. To create a form description, export your form to an *.xfd file (XML Form Definition format), and then open it in ABBYY FlexiCapture Professional. When creating a Document Definition in ABBYY FlexiCapture, import the *.xfd file, and ABBYY FlexiCapture automatically creates the required Document Definition. You can export only Published forms to XML Form Definition. You can choose the image format (TIFF or EMF) that ABBYY FormDesigner uses to save the form image in the XFD file. To export a form to an *.xfd file, use the XML Form Definition… command (File → Export To → XML Form Definition…). In the Export to XML Form Definition dialog box, provide a name for the *.xfd file and browse to the folder where it will be stored.
