Select the form elements you want to merge.

Merge them
Select the Merge tool on the Design Tools toolbar.
Split elements

Select the merged elements
Select the merged elements you want to split.

Split them
Select the Split tool on the Design Tools toolbar.
Add an element to merged elements

Select the merged elements
Select the previously merged elements.

Select the element to add
Hold down Shift and select the element you want to add to the group.

Add it
Select the Add to Merged Elements tool on the Design Tools toolbar.
