The Merge Fields rule merges the values of several fields. You can separate the merged values with a dot, a space, or another separator.
1

Open the properties dialog box

Right-click the field and select Properties, or open the Document Definition properties (in the Document Definition editor, select Document Definition → Document Definition Properties).
2

Create a new rule

On the Rules tab, click New Rule. Select Merge Fields and click OK.
3

Set the common rule options

Type a Name, set the conditions for applying the rule and any Tags as needed, and click Next. For the full list of common rule options, see Set up rules.
4

Choose the fields, result, and separator

Click Add to add the fields to the Fields to merge list. Specify a Result field to store the merged value, and set the separator in the Separator box.
5

Set the separator behavior

By default, separators are added only between non-empty values. To add separators even for empty field values, select Put separators for empty field values.
6

Finish

Click Finish. The rule name appears on the Rules tab.
The merge result can be stored in any Document Definition field. A field without a region is convenient for this. To export only the resulting field and not the merged fields, clear the Export field value option for the merged fields.
