Autocropping an image
The Autocrop tool automatically finds page borders on an image and crops them. It also corrects skewing and distortions.To automatically crop an image, select one or more pages that need to be cropped in the image window and click the
button. Alternatively, select Image → Autocrop in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu. This operation will be applied to all selected images.

Unlike the Autocrop tool, this tool is designed for manual cropping, including cropping multiple regions on a single image. To crop an image:
- In the image window, select the appropriate page.
- Click the
button or select Image → Crop in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu. - In the dialog box that will appear, draw one or more regions that you want to crop out. All drawn regions will be marked with a rectangular frame. To draw another region inside one of the existing regions, hold down the Ctrl key while drawing it. Deselect a drawn region by holding down the Shift key and left-clicking inside it or on one of its borders.
- The image will be cropped when you click Apply in the upper right corner of the dialog box or press Enter. Alternatively, you can left-click outside the image in the dialog box. Each marked area will become a separate page.
- Click OK to save your changes or click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving your changes.

If an page contains two or more images (several documents or several pages from a single document) , it can be split into several parts, with each part saved as a separate page. To do this, select the appropriate page in the image window and click the
button. Alternatively, select Image → Split in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu.
- By default, pages are split into two parts horizontally.
- Holding down the Shift key will split the page into two parts vertically.
- Holding down the Ctrl key will split the page both horizontally and vertically — into 4 parts in total.

If an image contains light text on a dark background, its colors should be inverted for further processing. To do this, select the appropriate pages in the images window and click the
button. Alternatively, select Image → Invert in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu.

On a page with a standard orientation, horizontal lines of text are read from top to bottom. Pages with non-standard orientations should be rotated. To do this, select the appropriate pages in the images window and do the following:
- to rotate an image 90° clockwise, click the
button. Alternatively, select Image → Rotate 90° Clockwise in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu; - to rotate an image 90° anticlockwise, click the
button. Alternatively, select Image → Rotate 90° Counterclockwise in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu; - to rotate an image 180°, click the
button. Alternatively, select Image → Rotate 180° in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu.

The Despeckle tool clears blemishes from the image background. This tool can only be applied to black-and-white images. To use it, select the appropriate pages in the images window and click the
button. Alternatively, select Image → Despeckle in either the Edit menu in the main window or the drop-down menu.
