Editing a Skill Derived from a Read-only Skill
Vantage built-in skills and read-only skills created and published by third-party developers can’t be edited directly. However, you can derive a new skill from a built-in or read-only skill and edit the derived skill. Derived skills inherit all the rules and fields from their base skills. Additionally, derived skills can be seamlessly updated to the latest version of their base skills, while preserving all the changes you have made.Editing a Custom Skill
If you aren’t satisfied with the extraction quality of a custom skill, create and set up additional activities. For example, you may add an Extraction Rules activity to fine-tune the extraction of some fields, or an Address Parsing activity to break down the full address extracted by the skill.
Steps for Editing a Custom Skill
- Open a skill in ABBYY Vantage Advanced Designer by selecting it from the Skill Catalog on the start page.
- The document set for that skill will be available in the Documents tab. If required, you can add more images to the set. The field structure and labeling of the skill will be displayed in the Fields tab.
- A document processing flow that contains a Fast Learning activity will be displayed in the Activities tab. This activity uses Vantage machine learning to extract the fields. Add an Extraction Rules activity to your flow. It will allow you to set up custom object search conditions. If you need to improve extraction results for only a few of the skill’s fields, you can set up an activity only for those fields. To do so, specify all such fields in the field list in the Activities tab of the Properties pane of the Extraction Rules activity.
- Navigate to the Extraction Rules activity editor by clicking Activity Editor. Use sample documents to set up your extraction rules in such a way so that all elements are detected correctly.
- Close the Activity Editor. Test your skill by clicking Test Skill Using Selected Documents and analyze the results you obtain.
- Once testing results are good enough, publish your skill.
