Scanner settings
| Option | Description |

| Resolution (drop-down list) | Allows you to set the resolution of scanned images. Select higher resolutions for texts printed in small-sized fonts. |
| Color mode (drop-down list) | Allows you to select a color mode for scanning images. Gray mode is best for OCR purposes. |
| Compression (drop-down list) | Allows you to select compression for scanned images. |
| Rotation (drop-down list) | Allows you to rotate images. |
| Color dropout | Allows you to remove a certain color from scanned images. You can select Red, Green, Blue, or None from the drop-down list. (Selecting None retains all colors.) |
| Brightness (drop-down list) | Allows you to select between automatic and manual brightness adjustment. To change the brightness, move the slider below the drop-down list. |
Paper settings
| Option | Description |

| Paper size (drop-down list) | Allows you to select paper size. Note: If none of the suggested paper sizes suits your needs, you can create a custom paper size. Select Custom… from the list and in the Custom Paper Size dialog box, specify the required paper height and width. |
Multi-page scanning
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Use automatic document feeder (ADF) | Select this option if an ADF-equipped scanner is being used. |
| Duplex scanning | Select this option for duplex scanning. |
| Pause for N seconds after each page | Select this option if you want the scanning to pause for N seconds after each page. Type in the desired time interval in seconds. |
| Preview (button) | Click this button to scan and preview a page. When the scanning process ends, the image of the scanned page appears in the window above this button. |
