An anchor is an element of a machine-readable form that is used for matching a form with its template and determining its orientation during processing. Adding anchors to a form is an important stage of form design. ABBYY FormDesigner allows you to add two types of anchor to your forms: black squares and corners.

Type

Description

Black Square

The anchor has the shape of a square.

Corner

The anchor has the shape of a corner.

Only one type of anchor can be used on a form. When specifying the type of anchor to be used on your form, you also need to set its properties:
  • Size: the length of each side of the black square or the length of each side of the corner
  • Line Width: the line width of each side of the Corner (this parameter is not applicable to black squares)
