Main window menu - ABBYY Documentation

Command reference for the ABBYY FlexiCapture Project Setup Station main window menu. It covers both the Distributed and Standalone editions.

Most menus are identical in the Distributed and Standalone editions. A command tagged (Distributed only) or (Standalone only) appears in that edition only. The Project menu differs enough that each edition is listed separately. A menu shown without an edition tag is identical in both editions.

File

Menu	Description
New Project…	Creates a new project.
Open Project…	Opens an existing project.
Open Project from Server… (Distributed only)	Opens an existing project from the Application Server.
Close Project	Closes the current project.
Upload Project to Server… (Distributed only)	Opens a dialog box where you can upload your project to the Application Server.
Save	Saves the changes.
New Batch…	Creates a new batch.
Load Images…	Loads images from files.
Load Images from Folders	Loads images that are sorted into folders according to their class in one step. Saves the names of the folders the images were downloaded from. Note: Use the Set Class Based on Subfolder Name option to assign a reference class based on the name of the folder.
Scan Images…	Adds images obtained by scanning.
Import Images…	Imports images using one of the configured Image Import Profiles.
Export	Starts export using custom export profiles.
Export To → Data to Files…	Exports data to a file.
Export To → Images to Files…	Exports images to files.
Export To → Database…	Exports data to a database.
Recent Projects (Distributed) / Recently Opened Projects (Standalone)	Opens one of the previously opened projects.
Exit	Closes ABBYY FlexiCapture.

Edit

Menu	Description
Undo	Cancels the last action.
Redo	Restores the canceled action.
Cut	Cuts the selected objects.
Copy	Copies the selected objects to the Clipboard.
Paste	Pastes the copied object from the Clipboard.
Delete	Deletes the selected objects.
Document → Lock Document Boundaries	Locks the boundaries of a document to prevent it from being merged with other documents.
Document → Unlock Document Boundaries	Unlocks the boundaries of a document.
Document → Create Document	Creates a document from subsequent pages and documents.
Document → Merge	Merges subsequent pages into one document.
Document → Split	Splits selected documents into pages and documents.
Image → Despeckle	Despeckles the image.
Image → Invert	Inverts the image.
Image → Flip Horizontally	Flips the image horizontally (relative to the vertical axis).
Image → Flip Vertically	Flips the image vertically (relative to the horizontal axis).
Image → Rotate 90° Clockwise	Rotates the image 90° clockwise.
Image → Rotate 90° Counterclockwise	Rotates the image 90° counterclockwise.
Image → Rotate 180°	Rotates the image 180°
Image → Autocrop	Automatically searches for page boundaries on an image, crops the area that contains data for extraction, corrects skews and distortions.
Image → Crop	Opens the manual image crop dialog.
Image → Split	Splits an image horizontally / vertically for the selected number of separate pages. Note: With this action you need to make sure that documents on all images are placed evenly. Otherwise, you risk losing significant information.
Image → Change Resolution…	Changes the resolution of the image.
Image → Save As…	Saves the image with the specified name.
Image → Show Original Image	Shows the original image prior to enhancements being applied. Note: The Store original image during processing option should be selected in the project properties on the Image Processing tab.
Image → Revert to Original	Reverts the enhancements applied to the image. Note: The Store original image during processing option should be selected in the project properties on the Image Processing tab.
Image → Apply Image Enhancement Profile	Applies an image enhancement profile to images.
Select All	Selects all objects.
Find…	Finds specified text. Note: In batch view, the text of all the columns is searched. In document view, the document fields are searched.
Find Next	Finds the next text that was previously specified.
Go To → Next Document	Goes to the next document in the batch.
Go To → Previous Document	Goes to the previous document in the batch.
Go To → Next Confirmed Field	Navigates to the next confirmed field. Note: This command is available only if the Go to Uncertain Field on Confirmation option is enabled in the shortcut menu of the data form in the Document pane.
Go To → Previous Confirmed Field	Navigates to the previous confirmed field. Note: This command is available only if the Go to Uncertain Field on Confirmation option is enabled in the shortcut menu of the data form in the Document pane.

View

Menu	Description
Test Batches	Opens the list of test batches.
Working Batches	Opens the list of batches.
Open Field Extraction Training Batches	Opens a list of field extraction training batches.
Open Classifier Training Batches	Opens a list of classifier training batches.
Details	Shows the documents and their pages as a detailed list.
Thumbnails	Shows document images as thumbnails.
Choose Columns…	Allows configuring the list of columns displayed in the detailed view mode.
Document Editor → Image Mode	Enables the document image viewing mode.
Document Editor → Data Mode	Enables the recognized data viewing mode.
Document Editor → Image Window	Allows positioning the image in the document window.
Document Editor → Errors Window	Allows selecting the location of the Errors pane in the Document pane and the types of errors to display in the list.
Document Editor → Image Scale	Allows selecting a suitable field image scale.
Document Editor → Data Text Size	Allows selecting the font size used when displaying recognized data.
Document Editor → Show Toolbar	Shows/hides the toolbar in the document window. This toolbar allows correcting some of the matching errors, for example, you can add the field that wasn’t found, and add or delete a table separator. This is mainly used when working with FlexiLayouts.
Document Editor → Show Error Message for Active Field	Changes the way errors are displayed for the current field.
Document Editor → Show Image in Black and White	Shows full color and gray scale images of document pages in black and white.
Document Editor → Arrange Pages Vertically	Arranges the pages in the image window vertically.
Document Editor → Go to	Navigates to the previous or next opened document.
Document Editor → Go to Original Field	Navigates to the referenced field when working with a link to an existing field on the document form.
Thumbnail options	Lets you show or hide error notifications and values of key fields in the Thumbnails view. Error messages are displayed beneath the name of the Document Definition, and values of key fields are displayed beneath the thumbnail and the section name.
Thumbnails Size	Allows selecting the size of page thumbnails.
Toolbars	Shows/hides the toolbars.
Side Panels	Shows/hides the side panels.
Status Bar	Shows/hides the status bar.
Full Screen	Switches to full screen mode.
Refresh	Refreshes the information displayed.
Properties…	Opens the Page of Document Properties dialog box.

Recognition

Menu	Description
Analyze	Analyzes the pages of the documents and finds a suitable Document Definition.
Match Document Definition…	Matches the selected Document Definition to the selected document or page.
Confirm Document Definition	Confirms the results of Document Definition matching.
Recognize	Starts the recognition.
Clear Analysis Results	Clears the results of the automatic document assembly and Document Definition matching. Note: If the Bound option is selected, the document will not be disassembled.

Verification

Menu	Description
Run Data Verification…	Starts verification.
Confirm Document Definition	Confirms the results of Document Definition matching.
Confirm All Document Symbols	Confirms all characters that have been recognized as “uncertain”.
Next Item to Verify	Goes to the next verification object.
Previous Item to Verify	Goes to the previous verification object.
Next Assembly Error	Goes to the next assembly error.
Previous Assembly Error	Goes to the previous assembly error.
Next Uncertain Character	Goes to the next uncertainly recognized character.
Previous Uncertain Character	Goes to the previous uncertainly recognized character.
Next Rule Error	Goes to the next rule error.
Previous Rule Error	Goes to the previous rule error.
Train	Starts the FlexiLayout training process.

Project

The Project menu differs between editions in both the commands it contains and their role availability, so each edition is listed separately.

Distributed edition

Menu	Description
Document Definitions…	Opens the dialog box with the list of Document Definitions, which allows creating, editing, importing, and deleting them.
Batch Types…	Opens the dialog box with the list of batch types, which allows creating, editing, and deleting them.
Image Import Profiles…	Opens the dialog box with the list of Image import Profiles, which allows creating, copying, editing, and deleting them.
Protect with Password…	Allows protecting the current project with a password.
Unprotect…	Allows disabling password protection of the project.
Export Project…	Exports the project to the specified folder. Images are taken from the current project.
Update Project…	Configures project updating. Messages and errors that appear during import can be saved to a file (right-click and then click - Export to File).
Compact	Reduces the size of the project by compacting the Document Definition database and converting the Document Definitions to a new format.
Create Test Copy	Creates a test copy of the project.
Commit Test Copy	Commits the test copy to the working copy.
Delete Test Copy	Deletes the test copy of the project.
Project Properties…	Opens the Project Properties dialog box.

Standalone edition

Menu	Description
Document Definitions… (available for the Administrator only)	Opens the dialog box with the list of Document Definitions, which allows creating, editing, importing, and deleting them.
Batch Types… (available for the Administrator only)	Opens the dialog box with the list of batch types, which allows creating, editing, and deleting them.
Image Import Profiles…	Opens the dialog box with the list of Image import Profiles, which allows creating, copying, editing, and deleting them.
Protect with Password… (available for the Administrator only)	Allows protecting the current project with a password.
Unprotect… (available for the Administrator only)	Allows disabling password protection of the project.
Export Project… (available for the Administrator only)	Exports the project to the specified folder. Images are taken from the current project.
Update Project… (available for the Administrator only)	Configures project updating. Messages and errors that appear during import can be saved to a file (right-click and then click - Export to File).
Compact (available for the Administrator only)	Reduces the size of the project by compacting the Document Definition database and converting the Document Definitions to a new format.
Project Properties…	Opens the Project Properties dialog box.
Switch to Admin Mode… (available for the Operator only)	Switches to administrator mode.

Fields Training

In the Standalone edition, this menu is available to the Operator only.

Menu	Description
Open Field Extraction Training Batches	Opens a list of field extraction training batches.
Train	Starts FlexiLayout training.
Set Document State	Sets the status of a document when training a FlexiLayout variant. Possible statuses: Unused For testing For training
Change Document Definition…	Changes the Document Definition associated with the training batch.
Clear Document Definition	Disassociates the Document Definition from the batch. Note: A batch that has no Document Definition associated with it cannot be used in FlexiLayout training.
Change Variant…	Allows changing the FlexiLayout variant of documents that have been used for training.
Change Vendor…	Changes the vendor associated with the training batch.
Export Trained FlexiLayout…	Exports a trained FlexiLayout variant to FlexiLayout Studio for further modification.
Import FlexiLayout…	Imports a FlexiLayout variant from FlexiLayout Studio.
Import Training Batches…	Imports training batches into the current project.
NLP batch	Uses the batch to train the NLP model.
Lock Training by Operators	Prohibits further FlexiLayout training for a particular vendor.
Disable	Disables the use of the training results for a particular vendor.

Classification Training

In the Standalone edition, this menu is available to the Operator only.

Menu	Description
Open Classifier Training Batches	Opens a list of classifier training batches.
Train	Starts classification training.
Classify	Starts testing classification on the selected pages.
View Statistics	Opens the classification statistics window.
Set Class…	Allows setting the reference class for the selected pages.
Set Previous Class	Sets the previous reference class for the selected pages.
Set Recent Class	Sets a recent reference class to the selected pages.
Set Class Based on Classification Result	Sets a reference class identical to the result class to the selected pages.
Set Class Based on Subfolder Name	Sets a reference class identical to the subfolder where they are located for the selected pages.
Clear Class	Cancels the reference class selection for the selected pages.
Create New Class	Opens the New Document Class dialog box.
Class Mapping…	Opens the Class Mapping… dialog box.
Show Similar Pages	Finds pages that are similar to the selected one.
Show Similar Pages from Reference Class	Finds pages that are similar to the selected one and have the same reference class.
Show Similar Pages from Result Class	Finds pages that are similar to the selected one and have a reference class that is the same as the result class for the selected page.
Set Document State	Changes the status of a document for classification training. Possible statuses: Unused For Testing For Training
Benchmark	Opens the dialog box that can be used to split the selected documents into training and testing documents.
Change Classification Profile	Changes the classification profile. The following profiles are available: Image and Text (Fast) Image and Text (Thorough) Image Only Text Only
Change Recall/Precision Priority	Changes the precision/recall balance of classification. Possible settings: High Recall Balanced High Precision
Export Classifier…	Exports the selected classification batch to ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio.
Lock Training by Operators	Does not let the operator carry out further classifier training with the verification results.
Use Anonymized Images for Training	Lets you use anonymized images loaded together with the FLS classifier for further training.
Import Training Batches…	Imports classification training batches from other projects.
Set Batch Filter…	Opens the Classifier Batch Filter Settings dialog box.
Clear Batch Filter	Clears the set classification batch filter.

Tools

Menu	Description
Update to Latest Version	Applies the project changes to the currently processed documents.
Reanalyze	Re-analyzes the documents.
Rerecognize	Re-recognizes the documents.
Refresh Assembly	Refreshes the assembly of pages into documents.
Recheck Rules	Re-checks rules.
Check Batch Integrity	Checks batch integrity.
Change Batch Type…	Changes the batch type.
Duplicate Documents	Adds a copy of the document to the batch.
Export Batch to FlexiLayout Studio → Create New FlexiLayout Studio Project…	Creates a new ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio project for creating an additional FlexiLayout.
Export Batch to FlexiLayout Studio → Add to Existing FlexiLayout Studio Project…	Adds the batch to an existing ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio project.
Options…	Opens the Options dialog box, where you can configure different properties such as background task processing, window view, and other.

Menu	Description
Help Topics	Opens the ABBYY FlexiCapture help file.
Web Help	Opens the ABBYY FlexiCapture help website.
Technical Support	Opens the Technical Support section in the program help.
