Set recognition properties on the Recognition tab of the field properties dialog box. To open it, click Properties on the field’s shortcut menu. Correctly determined field values improve recognition quality and reduce errors. In the Filling type field, select the recognition mode: Standard recognition, Do not recognize, or Script recognition.

Standard recognition options

Set the Code type to select the barcode type:
  • Any type detects all types of barcodes.
  • Any type (No Post Barcodes) detects all types except postal barcodes, which speeds up recognition.
  • Select Types lets you choose specific barcode types manually.
Detecting QR Code, Aztec, and DataMatrix barcodes can slow performance, so select them only if your project contains them. Detect these 2D types only if at least one Document Definition contains a fixed or flexible section that uses a 2D barcode, or if a 2D barcode is used in a classifier loaded for the batch type. If Code 39 without asterisk barcodes are present in the project, specify this type explicitly; otherwise it is not detected.
Set the Orientation to specify the barcode orientation.

Other recognition modes

  • Do not recognize: select this mode if the field cannot be recognized (for example, text made of fused letters). The field is not recognized, and the Operator enters its value during verification.
  • Script recognition: select this mode to use a custom recognition or initialization algorithm. For more information, see Custom recognition script.
