The Application Server ensures the correct operation of the entire ABBYY FlexiCapture system. The stations communicate among themselves via the Application Server. Install the Application Server before you install the stations. First, make sure the necessary components are installed.
If the components are not installed on your computer, all of them (with the exception of Internet Information Services) can be installed from the ABBYY FlexiCapture disk. Internet Information Services is a Windows component and is distributed together with the Windows operating system.
Depending on your environment, you may also need to configure the following:
  • If you use a firewall, allow the World Wide Web Publishing Service.
  • To authenticate the Scanning Station with a login and password rather than Windows authentication, enable Basic Authentication in Internet Information Services at the FlexiCapture/Server level.
After you install the Application Server, the Administration and Monitoring Console starts automatically (it is installed together with the server). There, you can set up a database connection and grant access permissions to the Operators.
