The ABBYY Scanning Plugin lets you scan documents on web stations. It can also upload the source PDF file to the server so that FlexiCapture can use the PDF text layer. You can turn on the text-layer upload only in the batch type settings. It cannot be turned on or off from the web station.

Install the plugin

When you log in to a web station for the first time, the Install Scanning Plugin page opens.
1

Download the plugin

On the Install Scanning Plugin page, click the Download plugin link.
2

Confirm the installation

If a window prompts you to confirm the installation, click Install in that window.
3

Allow the changes on Windows

If your computer runs Windows with User Account Control (UAC) enabled, Windows asks for permission to make changes. Click Yes to allow them.If UAC is enabled but you do not have administrator permissions, enter the name and password of an administrator account, and then click Yes. Contact your FlexiCapture administrator for these credentials.
4

Finish the installation

Wait for the installation to complete, and then click Continue on the Install Scanning Plugin page.
You can also download the plugin file to your computer and install it later. You must install the ABBYY Scanning Plugin before you can use the web station.

Shared workstations

An administrator can install the scanning plugin for all system users. This lets administrators set up shared workstations that different operators use at different times. Operators can then start using a station right away, without installing the plugin themselves.
The plugin does not support concurrent use by different operators. If different operators use the same machine, each operator must sign out of the system when finished. Otherwise, other users may have problems scanning documents. For more information, see Scanning plugin problems.
