Highlight anchor text

Switch to the mode

Switch to static elements mode.

Select the object type

Select the anchor text tool on the toolbar.

Mark the region

Use one of the following ways:

Position the cursor in one corner of the anchor text, and then left-click and drag diagonally to the opposite corner.
Hold Shift and click in the anchor text region.

Modify anchor text properties

Highlight the text, right-click in the region, and then select Properties from the shortcut menu.

Set the options on the General and Recognition tabs.

General tab

Option	Description
Use for Document Definition matching	Enable this option for ABBYY FlexiCapture to use the anchor text for Document Definition matching.
Use for Document Definition identification	Enable this option to use the anchor text for Document Definition identification.
Value	If you use anchor text as an identifier, you can set its value. To insert a value automatically, click Hint.
Max number of errors	Specify the maximum number of allowed errors in the anchor text string.

Recognition tab

Configure the recognition options so the static text is recognized as accurately as possible.

Option	Description
ICR	Enable this option if the static text is handwritten or hand-printed.
OCR (printed)	Enable this option if the static text is machine-printed, and then select the print style from the dropdown list (typographic, dot-matrix printer, typewriter, and so on). For more information, see Supported text types.
Advanced	Select several text types or specify a custom text type.
Data type	Select the language of the text. Click Select to make your selection.
Letter case	Select the case of the static text letters. If the text has both lowercase and uppercase letters, leave the Auto value.
Orientation	Specify the text orientation.
One line	Enable this option for one-line text.
One word	Enable this option if the text consists of a single word with no spaces.

The Recognition tab also includes image processing options.

Option	Description
Invert	Inverts the image.
Remove texture	Removes texture.
Despeckle	Removes garbage from the image.
Remove garbage of specified size only	Removes garbage of a specified size only. Specify the garbage size. If this option is disabled and only Despeckle is enabled, the garbage size is selected automatically.
