Classifiers can be used for a variety of purposes. Set up your classifier based on how you want to use it. A classifiers can detect:
  • Document types. Example: input documents have to be classified as either invoices or passports.
  • Document variants. Example: input documents have to be classified as invoices from different vendors or driver’s licenses from different states.
  • Separate documents in a stream of input pages. Example: FlexiCapture constantly receives page images. Each page needs to be classified as the first or a subsequent page of one of several types of documents.
The setup procedure for each type of use is described below.
  1. Create a Document Definition for each type of document.
  2. Create sections for each Document Definition.
The classifier will classify each page according to the section it belongs to.

  3. Create document variants for each section type.
The classifier will classify each page according to the document variant it page belongs to.

  2. Create sections for each Document Definition.
The classifier will determine which section each page belongs to and whether or not it is the first page in a document, and then classify it according to this data.
