For the Standard recognition mode, specify the following options.

Text type

The ICR option recognizes handwriting styles that differ by country. For example:

Patterns

A pattern is a set of “character image to keyboard character” pairs created through pattern training. A pattern is a source of additional information for FlexiCapture, useful for texts set in decorative fonts or containing unusual characters (for example, mathematical symbols). When using a pattern file in FBT format:
  • During field recognition, only uncertainly recognized characters are replaced with values from the pattern file.
  • During full-text recognition, all characters are replaced with values from the pattern file.
Pattern training is not supported for Asian languages.

Marking type

Select the marking type. To simplify your choice, select samples from the dropdown list.
  • If the marking disappears during scanning, it is monospaced (Grey boxes).
  • If the marking does not disappear and is divided into cells for character spaces, enter the total number of cells. When FlexiCapture detects such fields automatically, the number of cells is determined automatically too.
For the Grey boxes, Simple, and Underlined marking types, words split at the end of a line are automatically rejoined. For Simple and Underlined, words are rejoined only if a hyphen was used to split them. For Grey boxes, split words are rejoined even without a hyphen. A word is rejoined if it is found in the dictionary.
