Verification, the checking of recognized data, is the most labor-intensive part of an operator’s work. ABBYY designed the verification procedure around the human operator. It takes account of habit formation, the use of acquired skills, and the integrity and purpose of visual perception.

How verification works

Whenever the program is uncertain about a character, it marks that character as unreliably recognized. Verification exists to check those characters and correct them where necessary. Rule validation runs automatically. Fields whose values satisfy the rule conditions can be marked as reliably recognized and excluded from verification. Fields whose values fail the rule conditions go to verification.

Check document assembly first

For multipage documents, first check the assembly of pages into documents. For document sets, first check the assembly of documents into document sets.

The two verification stages

After the assembly checks are done, start verifying the data. Verification runs in two stages: group verification, and then field verification. If the Document Definition has no fields included in group or field verification, the corresponding stage is skipped. For more information, see Verification properties. After both stages, review the data in the document window. Characters that were not confirmed at the earlier stages stay highlighted in red. To move between errors, click Previous error button and Next error button on the main window toolbar. The program displays every type of error, including assembly errors, uncertainly recognized characters, and rule errors.
