Use the Project Setup Station to create, set up, and debug projects. A project specifies its Document Definitions, batch types, image import, document export, and processing options.
Only the Administrator can create new projects. A Project Setup Operator can only set up projects that already exist.
Set up a project in the order of the sections that follow.

Create a project

The Administrator must first establish a database connection.
1

Launch the Project Setup Station

Select Start → All Programs → ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Stations → Project Setup Station.
2

Create the project

3

Upload the project

Upload the project to the Application Server.
After you upload the project to the Application Server, the Administrator can grant setup permissions for it to a Project Setup Operator.

Set project properties

1

Launch the Project Setup Station

Select Start → All Programs → ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Stations → Project Setup Station.
2

Open the project from the server

Select File → Open Project from Server and specify the path to the Application Server. An Open Existing Project from Application Server dialog box appears.
3

Select the project

Select the project from the list of available projects.
4

Set the project properties

Select Project → Project Properties and specify the project properties, such as image pre-processing options, document recognition options, event handlers, export settings, and processing options.

Create Document Definitions

To control how FlexiCapture identifies and processes each document type, create Document Definitions. A Document Definition describes the document’s structure, the positions of its fields, and its export and processing options. You create Document Definitions in the Document Definition Wizard and specify their properties in the Document Definition Editor.

Create batch types

ABBYY FlexiCapture can process documents in batches. You create a batch, add the document images to it, and the batch then moves through the processing stages. Typically, a batch contains all the documents you process at once or all the documents imported from a particular folder. The batch type specifies the settings used to process the documents. You can create several batch types for your most common sets of processing options. When an Operator creates a batch, they choose its type, and FlexiCapture processes the batch according to that type’s settings. If you create no batch types, FlexiCapture processes all batches with the <default> settings for the entire project. You can verify or export documents in batches or individually, as specified in the batch type settings.

Create image import profiles

To automate adding images, create image import profiles on the Project Setup Station. Two types of profile are available: a scanner profile and a Hot Folder profile. Use a scanner profile to debug the project. A scanner profile is only available on the Project Setup Station. A Hot Folder profile imports images automatically on the Processing Station. To import images from Hot Folders, enable Hot Folders for your project in the Administration and Monitoring Console (click Settings → Projects).
