Project properties

You view and change a project’s properties in the Project Properties dialog box. To open it, select Project → Project Properties in the main window.

General tab

The General tab displays the general properties of the project. Some properties are available only in one type of installation.

Stage Tools tab

This tab is available only in a distributed installation. The Stage Tools tab lists the stage tools you can use in the Advanced schema of the Workflow setup. A stage tool is a stage with a set of scripts and a customizable interface. You can edit base stage tools and create custom tools. For more information, see Stage Tools.

Image Processing tab

The Image Processing tab displays the image pre-processing options, which apply to images added manually from a file. In a distributed installation, you can change these options. For more information, see Image pre-processing options.

Recognition tab

On the Recognition tab, specify the language of your documents. By default, only the languages for which dictionaries are provided are shown. To see all available languages, select the Show all languages option. Languages marked “ICR” can recognize handwritten and hand-printed text as well as machine-printed text. If you do not know the language of your documents in advance, specify several candidate languages. ABBYY FlexiCapture chooses the right one at the recognition stage. On this tab, you can also add a FlexiLayout classifier to your project.

Page orientation and text type

The following options control how ABBYY FlexiCapture corrects page orientation and which print type it expects on blank forms.

Barcode extraction

The barcode options control whether ABBYY FlexiCapture searches images for barcodes, and which barcode types it finds.

CJK pre-recognition

The following options apply to CJK pre-recognition.

Vertical text extraction

The vertical text options control whether ABBYY FlexiCapture detects vertically oriented text, and in which languages.

​

Distortion correction

Click the Advanced button to configure correction of linear and nonlinear image distortions, specify the direction of the scanner’s automatic feeder, and so on. Select Correct linear distortion to specify parameters of image spreading or compression by height and width. ABBYY FlexiCapture scales images by existing anchors (black square, cross, or corner) and by horizontal and vertical separators.

Classification

In the Classification section, specify whether the project uses a classifier or a script.

Verification tab

On the Verification tab, select Group fields on Field Verification to group fields in this stage. Fields are grouped by the field or group name specified in the verification properties.

Export Destinations tab

On the Export Destinations tab, you can specify, view, or modify export settings for documents that were not recognized. Recognized documents are exported using the export setting specified in the respective Document Definition.

Workflow tab

On the Workflow tab, you set up your workflows for the default batch type. For more information, see Workflow setup.

Event Handlers tab

The Event Handlers tab lists the events that can be handled with a script. To create an event handler, select an event from the list and click the Edit Script button. In the Script Editor window that opens, write the script. For more information, see Event Handlers.

User Roles tab

This tab is available only in a distributed installation. On the User Roles tab, you add and edit user roles. Roles define users’ permissions to access documents, batches, and tasks in various stages, including stages created from a custom stage tool.

.NET References tab

On the .NET References tab, you add external assemblies to use in scripts and global modules. You can use both standard and compiled user assemblies. To add an assembly, click Add. In the dialog box that opens, select Standard assembly name or Attached file. Then enter the standard assembly name or browse to an assembly file. For more information, see External assemblies.

Environment Variables tab

On the Environment Variables tab, you specify environment variables to use in rules, export settings, and scripts. For more information, see Environment variables.
