You put documents to be processed into batches, and you decide how to group them. For example, you can process all documents as one batch, or group together documents imported on the same day or scanned at one go. (Standalone) Batches can also be created automatically when images are imported from Hot Folders or on Scanning Stations. To create a batch manually, right-click the list of batches in the main window and click New Batch on the shortcut menu. (Distributed) On Processing Stations, batches are created automatically when images are imported from Hot Folders. On Scanning Stations, operators can create batches manually or automatically (if the appropriate scanning profiles are available). When you create a batch, specify its type, which defines how the batch is processed. Page images are added during processing. For more information, see Add page images. (Distributed) On the Project Setup Station, you can debug Document Definitions by creating batches, adding document images to them, and processing them (that is, recognizing, verifying, and exporting the results). To create a batch, right-click the batch list in the main window and select New Batch from the shortcut menu.
To rename a batch, left-click it in the batch list and press F2. A batch name cannot exceed 90 characters.

Working and test batches

Test batches are used (Distributed) by the Batch Setup Operator to test and debug Document Definitions. Working batches are for processing documents with ABBYY FlexiCapture. The Batch Setup Operator can also access working batches if errors occur during processing, opening the working batch to correct the error. Test and working batches differ in the Document Definition they use: a test batch uses the local Document Definition, and a working batch uses a published Document Definition. For more information, see Editing and publishing a Document Definition. To open the list of batches, select Working Batches or Test Batches from the View menu (Distributed) on the Project Setup Station.

Copy or move documents between batches

(Distributed) You can copy or move documents between batches. All the document information, including the matched Document Definition and recognized data, is preserved. To copy or move documents (for example, from a working batch to a test batch for debugging), select them in the list and press Ctrl+C to copy or Ctrl+X to move, or use Copy or Cut on the Edit menu or the corresponding toolbar button. Then open the target batch and press Ctrl+V, or use Paste on the Edit menu or the toolbar.

Duplicate documents within a batch

(Distributed) You can also copy documents inside any batch. To copy one or more documents, select them and click Tools → Duplicate Documents on the main menu. Each copy is placed immediately after the source document in the document list. A copy receives a new identifier, and all the document information, including the matched Document Definition and recognized data, is preserved.
