Manual indexing is the flow where an Operator enters field values on each document by hand after scanning, rather than relying on Vantage extraction. Use it when the fields you need aren’t produced by a Skill, or when the source images are too low-quality for automatic extraction.

Before you begin

Define the document types you’ll use for indexing. Each type should expose the registration parameters (fields) you want Operators to fill in.
Create a separate batch type for images that will be indexed by hand. This keeps manual-indexing batches from mixing with batches processed automatically.

Index a document

1

Assemble pages into a document

Group the scanned pages into a document. See Create a document.
2

Assign the document type

Open the document’s properties. On the Registration Parameters tab, pick the type from the Type drop-down.
3

Enter field values

Fill in the registration parameters for the document. See Specify registration parameters.
For more on document types and the fields they expose, see Document types.
