Duplicating a skill may be useful for scenarios where different clients require slightly different versions of the same skill. Only custom Document skills can be duplicated and edited. If you need to edit a read-only Document skill (either a Vantage built-in skill or a read-only skill developed by a third party), see the instructions in the Working with a derived skill section. Duplicating a skill creates a new skill that is identical to the one being duplicated. A skill duplicate retains the original skill’s description, the demo documents, the set of documents uploaded when creating and editing the original skill, as well as all existing labeling. You can duplicate a skill by doing one of the following:
  • Select the skill that you want to duplicate by left-clicking it (anywhere except the skill name), and click Duplicate skill in the toolbar.
  • Open the skill in the preview window by clicking the preview icon and selecting Duplicate at the bottom.
A duplicate of the skill called <Original skill name> (Copy) will appear in the Skill Catalog. Duplicating a skill may take some time. You will only be able to edit a skill duplicate once duplication has been completed. A skill duplicate will contain all changes made to the original skill regardless of whether they were published or not. If you don’t want to copy over the changes that have been made to a skill since it was last published, discard them by selecting the skill in the Skill Catalog and clicking Discard changes in the toolbar. For more information about discarding changes, see Editing a Skill. Duplicating a Process skill will not duplicate any of the other skills it references. If you need the various copies of the referenced skills, duplicate them manually. For more information, see Duplicating a Process skill. To use a duplicate skill, it needs to be published.
Note: The availability of this feature depends on the user’s role. For more information about roles, see Role-Based Access Control.
