Rotate an image
A page has standard orientation when the text lines are horizontal and the text reads from top to bottom. If a page has a different orientation, rotate it. In the image window, select the pages to rotate, then use one of the following ways:- To rotate 90° clockwise, click Rotate 90° Clockwise on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.
- To rotate 90° counterclockwise, click Rotate 90° Counterclockwise on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.
- To rotate 180°, click Rotate 180° on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.
Flip an image
In the image window, select the pages to flip, then use one of the following ways:- To flip along the vertical axis, click Flip Horizontally on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.
- To flip along the horizontal axis, click Flip Vertically on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.
Crop an image
Unlike Autocrop, this tool is for manual cropping, including cropping multiple rectangles on one image.1
Select the image
In the image window, select the image to crop.

Start cropping
Click Crop on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.

Select the area to keep
Select an area on the image. A frame appears around it.You can also:
- Select multiple areas by repeating this step.
- Draw an area inside another area by holding down Ctrl while drawing.

Finish
To deselect an area, hold down Shift and click inside the area or on its border. To crop, press Enter or click outside the page. Each selected area is saved as a separate page.
Split an image
If an image contains two or more scanned pages, you can split them and save each fragment as a separate page. Select a page in the image window, then click Split on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu. How the image splits depends on the keys you hold:- By default, the image splits into two fragments horizontally.
- Hold Shift to split the image vertically.
- Hold Ctrl to split the image into four fragments.
Invert image colors
If an image has light text on a dark background, invert the colors to improve OCR. In the image window, select the pages to invert, then click Invert on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.Redact sensitive information
The redaction tool permanently hides sensitive information on a document.1
Select the page
In the image window, select the page with the sensitive information.

Start redacting
Click Redact on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.

Cover the area
Place the mouse pointer in a corner of the area to redact, then hold down the left mouse button and drag the frame diagonally. A color rectangle covers the text in the selected area. To change the rectangle color, click Tools → Options… → General → Redaction Color in the Options dialog box.
Change image resolution

Select the pages
In the image window or the Batches window, select the pages whose resolution you want to change.

Open the resolution dialog box
Click Change Resolution… on the toolbar, the Page menu, or the shortcut menu.

Set the resolution
In the Set Resolution dialog box, specify the resolution.
